Woodland Crescent, Llanfoist

The examiner would expect you to read the road signs and act accordingly.

Monk St yellow box junction.

If you can see traffic stopped, as above, then don’t enter the box. If you cannot see traffic and enter the box, but on going around the corner find you can’t leave the box, don’t panic, you will not be given a fault.

Watch for helpful reflections in the Angel Baker window, the one in partial view.

Glanbaiden roundabout, approaching on B4246, to take 3rd exit right

NB: You have already entered a 30 zone. The visibility to the right is poor, so a slow approach is needed. Right-hand lane on approach, right-hand lane on the roundabout.

Glanbaiden roundabout, positioning for 3rd exit (following on from approach above)

As you pass the second exit (which goes up to the A465) mirror check and position to the left before you go under the flyover. This puts you in the correct position for the exit (below).

A465 approaching Hardwick Gyratory

This sign shows you the shape of the road
This one shows the traffic direction
Traffic will come from your right, keep to your lane to start with. You are then looking for two lane changes when heading for the A40 to Abergavenny.
Keep moving at a steady pace in the lane on the left (where the cyclists are above) Glance right and use your right-hand mirror, then signal your intention to change lane.
Once you have moved into the right-hand lane, signal off again. You now plan your next lane change to the right when it becomes available.
Right-hand mirror check and signal right to move into the right-hand lane. You are following the A40 to Abergavenny (check the paint on the road)
Stay at a steady speed so that you can keep to your lane on the right. Ignore the arrows in the above picture, they are just on google maps, not the road.
Stay moving at a steady speed in the right-hand lane. You see from the signs that you are now approaching the roundabout, where you will take the third exit to the right, for Abergavenny.
Stay in your lane, enter the roundabout when clear and take the right lane next to the island.
As you pass the second exit, left mirror and signal and if safe move smoothly to the left, ready to leave the roundabout at exit three to Abergavenny.
The whole thing!
